Can people share dreams
Yes. There have been documented cases of different individuals sharing the exact same dream. In many of these cases, the individuals concerned usually shared what is a called a psychic or soul connection. It has been common for twins, for instance, to share common dreams, often occurring at the same time. Other cases have involved close friends and relatives.
Shared dreaming, also referred to as mutual dreaming, has recently received unprecedented attention in paranormal psychology. Studies now reveal that shared dreaming does not only happen spontaneously or involuntarily, but may actually be induced or initiated by the individuals concerned. It is thus possible to make use of shared dreaming for two individuals to communicate with one another, or to share their dream experience with one another. Because of the communication involved in shared dreaming, it can be considered as one form of telepathy.
A significant correlation has been shown to exist between lucid dreaming and shared dreaming. Most individuals who are able to initiate shared dreams with another are also lucid dreamers and have relative control over their dreams compared to the general population. One must be able to maintain a certain degree of consciousness or awareness while in a dream state in order for him to be able to communicate with another through shared dreams. Lucid dreaming is thus a necessary prerequisite before one can attempt to initiate shared dreams.
There are ways by which you can train yourself to be a lucid dreamer and come one step closer to initiating shared dreaming. One essential technique is to carefully maintain your awareness as you slowly drift to sleep. Allow yourself to feel completely relaxed while at the same being fully aware of your body and surroundings. It helps to focus on your desire to initiate a lucid dream. Be focused on that intent while also releasing all tension from your body. With practice, you will find yourself still conscious even as your body falls asleep. At first, your lucid dream may only consist of your awareness of the dream state. As you practice further, however, you will find yourself becoming more able to take control of your dream. As your control over your dreams gets stronger, your ability to initiated shared dreams will also slowly emerge.
