This is a common dream. I’ve had it many times over the years myself. It means that in the near future you face challenges that will almost overwhelm you. The car or a vehicle represents your physical body, the vehicle for your soul. The road going straight up means you’re facing a very steep challenge, but to remember there is no challenge you can’t face if you use all of your abilities. The fact that sometimes you fly high in the sky means you mentally rise above the challenges, land safely without harm. Because you’ve had it so many times, it would suggest that you need a new approach to how you are living your life and find better ways to travel thru it.

I have had this dream many times in my life in different ways, always the same thing as you, fearful the car will flip backwards it is so steep! Such a scary dream to me! Right now I am facing an EXTREMELY hard time in my life. I seem to have this dream at hard times. Mabye we need to assess what the”hill” actually means to each of us in our lives. How to drive safely over? You sound as if there is some luck and strength behind yours unlike mine, you actually flip but find yourself unharmed! I always wake up out of terror, except last time I think I actually made it up the hill, but I am growing older and mentally tougher.

I too have had the same dream but only over the past year or so. An interesting thing that I realized is that the dream came with a commission sales job.
The important lesson I have taken away from my dream is to aways keep trying, don’t fear failure. We grow from every new experience.

On mine I would see that people don’t make it all the way up and get out of their cars just to fall 20-30 feet straight down. I would actually see people fall from the top as a stood in the bottom of the road.

Thanks for all these updates, just had the steep road car drive dream last night – interpretations make sense -I have been under extreme stress about some things I’m facing lately – horrible stress – – thanks for the validations ‘overwhelming’

I just had a dream like this last night. There were a few roads but I “chose” to go up the steepest road.. (Even though I was obviously frightened) I thought we were gonna flip backwards. It wasn’t even the fastest road it was a slower way to travel it in a way. As I’m driving up there are these men putting papers trying to get my car to fall but I fight through it and get across from them… What are the men telling me?? Throughout the dream, I’m trying to get rid of them but they keep coming after me..

I’ve also had this dream several times now. At first the fear of the situation was overwhelming. The last time I had it I was following a car that was driving straight up without any problem and as I started to flip backwards I reached my arm out the window and held the guard rail in order to keep the car on the road. I would accelerate a little bit and then continue to grab the rail and little by little I made it over the hill. I’m a single mom who just completed my B.A. and I think it is self explanatory after reading other interpretations. :) So interesting.

I had a dream that i was in a car on a steep hill and i was scared the car was slipping down a little but i got to the top safely
I’ve had this dream a number of times….always a different road, each one so steep I feel sure I’ll flip over….but I always make it. I’m currently going through some tough times with my teenager daughter. I’ll start noticing if the dreams correspond to problems/challenges.Answered By: SueW1(3 points )

I am so glad to have read this, and that other people have this dream too. I’ve had this dream my whole life. Always the same. Going up a really steep hill, or drawbridge. I am always consumed with the fear that the car cant handle the steep incline, and I will careen backwards out of control. The dream usually ends before that happens, or just as I begin to lose it.
I will say one time, in my dream I actually made it over the hill, only to end up on a race track like downhill with curves and turns which I somehow navigated like a super hero, after which for the longest time I no longer had the dream.
Last night and a few times before I dreamt that my car was left idling in neutral as I went in to the house for something, and it rolled down a steep hill towards a busy street. Each time I watch the car in terror, as it approaches the busy street to see if it causes an accident, and run towards it. the car never hits another car, but ends up in the yard of a home owner on the bottom of the street, not hitting the house either, miraculously. Any thoughts on this one??

Yes, this is a dream about the seemingly insurmountable challenges you are facing, and your fear that you’re going to fail and fall backward in your position. Try to visualize what you can do to get out of or overcome the situation. Perhaps stop the car and walk up the hill. Or you can turn the car around. Or pull back and zoom forward to build momentum. Or push a button and your car develops wings and flies away. Whatever makes you comfortable, just visualize a few times a day. What you might also do is develop contingency plans in your real life. Take your challenges one-by-one and create a Plan B if Plan A doesn’t work out. Write it down. Assume the worst-case scenario and your response to it. By enumerating all the different issues you’re facing, you are helping yourself accept and respond to them.

I always have this dream, where I must “go on the freeway” and it turns into an almost straight up grassy hill
I used to try to drive up and down it in my dreams but now I always take “the other freeway”
It’s always in a disaster situation where I have to get somewhere immediately
Nearly all then dreams I remember lately are like this

I am glad to read this too. I’ve had this dream for years of driving and the hill becomes so steep, sometimes straight up, sometimes I’ve feared the car would flip over backward or it slides in reverse. I thought it was from living in San Fran when I was younger. But interesting to see others have it too. I always equate driving in dreams with my career, this one always comes when I’m afraid the road ahead is just too much work or moving ahead is such a leap of faith and I’ll never see my way easily through it. I had this last night and I was going straight up a paved road but also in line to get gas with other cars, I dropped it in low gear as we were idling but then began sliding backwards faster and faster, I thought I would hit the car behind me but somehow didn’t. And I’m embarrassed that I’m the only car in line that can’t keep it in place, the only one backsliding. Now that I read it back it correlates to what I’ve done recently. Dropped my ambition back into lower, slower pace, and didn’t follow some goals I had then felt bad that I had slid backwards instead of moving ahead financially. I have been anxious about it and feeling like “oh crap why was I afraid to go forward, I blew it!”

I have had this dream many times in my life, in the past it was always very scary, thinking about tipping over backwards, I would often give up. Throughout the years the hills have gotten bigger, and though I often freak out, I always get to the top safely.
I have had dreams about driving up entire mountains, some parts are steeper than others, and I don’t always reach the top, I am never harmed though, I simply decide to turn back. Other times I reach the top.
Recently I dreamed I was about to climb that mountain, and part of it was extremely steep, almost vertical, no way a car would actually be able to climb it. I began thinking how steep it is, then reminded myself how many steep hills I have climbed in the past, and my fears were gone, and I drove up that vertical hill very easily trusting that I would make it safely.
Honestly, I used to fear this dream but now love it, I can make it over any terrain, and there is nothing to fear if you trust in yourself. Go with your heart and don’t let anything or anybody stop you, especially your own fears.

I had this dream for the first time in my life yesterday and it was so strange that I wasnt scared, more puzzled than that… for a while… when the hill became virtually straight I started to worry. I am coming through lots of difficulties now – that is true. The good thing is I suppose that I end up on a flat land somewhere upwards! So weird!!!

Maybe we are all connected, this dream scares me, I had this dream more than I would like, once a month is just too much.
I don’t remember my dreams ordinarily, the steep hill driving upwards, worrying I’ll flip backwards just scares the bejesus out of me!
It’s weird when I googled my dream to find others?
I wont make heads or tails about the dream, but why can’t I dream that the car makes it?
Never does, or I awake at that point. Spooky is all.
